Delivering to the University During Covid 19

The University appreciates the on-going support from its suppliers in continuing to make business critical deliveries to University buildings. As the University begins to re-open more of its buildings and demand for goods and services begins to increase, the safety of our staff, students, visitors and suppliers is paramount. Guidance has been issued to all staff and students in line with government advice on how to safely return to work.

We are now asking our suppliers and their associated couriers to consider what measures they can put in place to help prevent the spread of infection when making deliveries to University buildings. You may want to consider:

  • Encouraging delivery drivers to use good hygiene practices, including frequent handwashing
  • Reinforcing education and hygiene with regular workplace communications
  • Ensuring social distancing is carried out at point of delivery (or where this is not possible that appropriate protective equipment is used)
  • Temporarily suspending signature required for deliveries
  • Regularly disinfecting the equipment used to make deliveries
  • Encouraging team members to closely monitor their health and seek medical attention if they develop a fever, new continuous cough or loss of taste/smell
  • Asking any team member who displays any of the above symptoms to stay at home

University departments will have undertaken individual risk assessments prior to opening which may result in requests for further precautions to be taken in respect of particular deliveries. We ask that suppliers comply with these measures unless their own risk assessment sets out a higher standard. It will be the responsibility of the department to communicate these additional precautions at the time of ordering. If you have any questions regarding requests from individual departments these should be directed to

Once again thank you for your continued support to the University at this time.
