Aims
It is essential that those responsible for conducting tender processes have the correct skills and knowledge to complete the process efficiently whilst satisfying audit requirements.
This course is suitable for:
- University staff responsible for managing tender processes within their departments who wish to explore the tender process in greater depth .
- Departmental staff working with the University Purchasing Department on high value procurement projects who wish to understand the process and roles and responsibilities .
- Managers who wish to understand best practice procurement, in order to develop better working practices within their own departments.
Objectives
This Introduction to Tendering course is a two part course and will provide an overview of the University's tendering processes and will explore how best value for money can be achieved. It will explain best practice throughout the tendering process, including interacting with suppliers, specification drafting, evaluation and contract award. The course will also briefly touch on negotiation techniques and explain how good procurement can support effective contract management.
Part One of this course covers:
- An overview of the University's tender processes and thresholds
- Supplier selection and due diligence
- Writing an effective specification
- Developing the invitation to tender
