Professional Development Opportunities
Professional Development Opportunities for staff in the Finance Division
The Finance Division is very much in favour of staff undertaking training, both essential training, i.e. Oracle Financials, but also to further your career and increase your knowledge within your area, including Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
The Head of Administration, leads the Division's Continuing Professional Development.
For ACCA and CIMA students, the applicant is responsible for registering and applying for exemptions. Once the request for study has been approved as per the Staff Development Policy, the Head of Administration will authorise reimbursement of agreed study related expenses.
For general CV and personal statement advice and the chance to speak with an independent advisor, contact the National Careers Service.
For further information on the Finance Division's commitment to promoting professional development and to make a request for funding, please read the Professional Training and Development Policy (DOC)
The application for funding should be completed for modules of study in each exam period. Both documents (and the BPP form if applicable) need to be submitted to the Head of Administration.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
The Finance Division supports professional development, both by organising internal CPD days for Accountants and Accountancy Trainees, and externally through attendance at conferences and seminars. The purpose of CPD is to help colleague maintain sector awareness and insight and enable networking with fellow professionals.
Relevant professional bodies (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW and RICS), make annual CPD a requirement of membership and each individual is responsible for checking the requirements and achieving them.
If you identify an external course or seminar that you need to attend:
- Advise and ask for your manager's approval
- Once the request for study has been approved as per the Staff Development Policy, the Head of Administration will authorise reimbursement of agreed study related expenses.
